Great Idea, Until You're Taking It Down to Charge It
Video doorbells are genuinely useful. The part people get tired of is unclipping it every few weeks to charge, which is also the window where it isn't recording anything.
The other issue is the view. Mounted at whatever height the old doorbell was, plenty of them end up showing a chest and a parcel rather than a face.
The common complaints:
- A battery that needs charging every few weeks
- No existing wiring at the front door
- A view that misses faces or points at the neighbour's yard
- An old chime that no longer works with the new unit
All of it is solved by wiring it in properly and mounting it at the right height and angle.

We run permanent power to the doorbell so it's always on and always recording, and deal with the transformer and chime side of it so the indoor chime still works.
We set the mounting height and angle for a clear view of whoever is at the door, and adjust the motion zones so you're not getting an alert every time a car goes past.
Before we leave we connect it to your network, set it up on your phone and check the view and the notifications with you.
What we do:
- Run permanent power to the front door
- Fit the transformer and sort out the indoor chime
- Mount at the right height and angle for faces
- Connect to your network and set up your phone
- Tune motion zones so alerts are useful

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. We run power to the front door and install the transformer needed, so you get a permanently powered doorbell even if there was never one there. It's more work than a battery unit but you never charge it again.
Usually, depending on the doorbell model and the chime. Some units work with the existing chime, some need a bypass or a new one. We check the combination before installing rather than after.
Around 1.2 to 1.5m generally gives a good view of faces rather than chests, but it depends on the lens and the approach to your door. We check the live view during install and adjust before we fix it permanently.
Yes. Most units let you set motion zones and sensitivity, and getting those right is the difference between a useful notification and one you learn to ignore. We tune it with you as part of the install.
Yes, that's what most of these jobs are. Tell us the make and model when you get in touch and we'll confirm what's needed for power and the chime before we come out.
